Alaska VHF-Up Group – 50 MHz to Microwaves

We are an informal amateur radio group promoting interest in VHF and higher frequencies. Our emphasis is on long-distance, weak-signal operations.

Membership is promoted for the purpose of encouraging the efforts of Alaskan operators sharing similar interests in VHF and “up”.

We are an ARRL-affiliated club and are casually affiliated with the Pacific Northwest VHF Society.

First and foremost, the club is here to help and encourage those new to weak signal operating on the VHF, UHF, and microwave bands.

We also have a lot of fun too. Members are active in EME contests, portable operating, VHF contests, and other events.

The club call sign, KL7VHF, is often heard in contests around South-Central Alaska.

Calling Frequencies

*In Alaska the convention is to always use vertical polarization, except for 6 meter weak-signal operating. Click here for more background.

These frequencies are locally used for routine FM chat. (For example, to QSY after making contact via a repeater.)
